It should be noted, that due to the high growth rate of Ascension Parish, primarily caused by families wishing to move to the Ascension Parish Public School System and further boosted by an influx of residents due to Hurricane Katrina, that the current population is estimated to be up to 30,000 more than the 200 census reported.

Ascension Parish Entertainment

Recreation and entertainments options within Ascension Parish are widely varied. Ascension Parish plays host to a myriad of events each year, some attracting visitors from across the entire United States. One such event is the TBO Entertainment Monster Truck Show, a veritable extravaganza of high performance and power, and popular with the whole family.

For those interested in heritage and history, the River Road African American Museum is sure to be a real delight. The museum dedicates itself to collecting and interpreting artifacts from the culture of African Americans found throughout the rural areas of the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
