Denham Springs is a city which can be found within  Livingston Parish in the State of Louisiana, and forms a part of the Greater Baton Rouge area. The city covers a total area of just over six square kilometers.
In the early to mid 1800s, the area was settled by people who were moving away from nearby cities, due to the spread of yellow fever. Denham Springs was initially discovered by William Denham, who in 1827 discovered the famed mineral springs. Eventually, the city was incorporated and named after this initial pioneer who did much to put Denham Springs on the map.

The 2000 census statistics tell us that there are almost 9,000 people living within the city, split into just over 3,000 households which contain a total of 2,500 individual families. This gives a population density of around 1,500 per square kilometer. Recent population estimates made in 2005, calculated that the over population had grown to around 10,500 people.
